World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade option allows players to boost the gear rating of an item by up 700 points, and then add a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you bring them to the Kiln.
Certain items are worth upgrading because of their unique stats. (For example the perfect broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items, like weapons don't change much after an upgrade and aren't worth it.
Weapons
Weapons can be upgraded to improve their numeric stats such as damage to attack, crit chance PvE and damage to PvP. Weapons also come with a flat bonus which increases the damage they deal per second. A lot of weapons also have a fixed bonus which is activated when three or more identical weapons are equipped in a unit. In some instances, this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon is able to upgrade by itself.
The cost of upgrading a weapon's capabilities is contingent on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For example, an +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it requires an upgrade to a higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.
Upgraded weapons can also alter their base stats. While this is usually beneficial however, it could have negative consequences as well. Upgrades can render items impossible to use, unless you are extremely lucky.
Upgrades can be made to armor items to increase their performance. This can increase the defense base of a helm or chest as well as belts and gloves. These will increase their required strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it is able to roll down to a lower value.
The upgrade template for a weapon shows the new stats that it will gain upon upgrading and their respective values. This means that an upgrade from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving 3% of attack damage. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will be hit 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.
Rerolling item upgrade can be possible by pressing the green button on the item menu using the arrows that circle. The item will be rerolled and alter its stats, but it will not reset the weapon's levels, or tie it to the account status.
Armor
Making a few improvements to your armor can make a huge differences in your ability to endure. Certain sets can offer MASSIVE boosts to poison or curse, fire or magic resistance, making it easier to navigate through tough terrain. Generally speaking, the more defense your character has the more value you can get from each point of health therefore it is important to improve your armor as often as you can.
You can upgrade your armor by visiting any of the Great Fairy Fountains. There are four of them and each one requires you to complete a special side quest involving the Stable Trotters musical troupe. After you've completed your main quest and the associated fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels and the amount of materials and Rupees required for each will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to five Red Chuchu Jellies and 10 Rupees for the first upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Horns for each subsequent one. For example, the Champion Leathers can be upgraded to +5 defense, which allows you to keep up with a good-sized group of enemies in most cold environments and the Snowquill Headdress can be upgraded up to +20 defense, providing the protection needed to survive the full-on assault with a few friends.
You can't upgrade your armor the same as weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor to increase physical strength or the power of spells. It's also a good idea to save your armor upgrades for the armor you'll wear at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you wear for the final boss fight, the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.
By giving the jeweler 10 Twinkling Titanite in Gerudo Town and you will be able to gain some benefits to your armor. You'll typically want to keep these upgrades to the weapon that you'll use to win the game. For example the Longsword or Battleaxe. It's nevertheless beneficial to have some upgrades for the armor on your chest and helmets so that you can sneak around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are substances in bottles that, if consumed, give the player the illusion of status for a few minutes. There are five kinds of potions that have different effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded, increasing their effectiveness. Additionally the effects of certain potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust them.
Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount of XP. This can be obtained by making them on a crafting table or by placing them in the Alchemist chest. However, the cost of upgrading will vary based on the type of potion you want to upgrade, and also on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potion, right-click it in your inventory. Then select "Upgrade" from the menu. This opens an GUI where you can choose the potions you wish to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll yield when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches of up to five at a time, and their XP will be added to the total XP you currently have.
Once a potion is upgraded, it won't degrade until you use it again or break the bottle it's stored in. Clicking on the potion in your inventory will also allow you to change its name.
There were a few updates to potion mechanics in version 1.7.2. For instance splash potions now have an average duration of 0:08 (this is not the same as 22.5 seconds displayed on the item hover display). The table for potion can now be constructed using four Wood Planks and two Glass. This allows it to be utilized by players playing Survival and Bedrock. Bedrock Edition potions are not compatible with cauldrons, unlike Java Edition. This is the same for using a potion in the cauldron that is filled. This will drain the potion and refill the bottle.
Finally, there are lingering potions, which are made using splash and dragon breath potions. Redstone can also be added to lingering potions to enhance their effects. The table of potions is organized more closely to the Java Edition, and new potions were added such as the potion of leaping, the decomposition potion, and turtle master potions.
Trinkets
A trinket is a tiny and affordable ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also be a small ornament or object that serves a function but isn't essential as a Thimble. In certain traditions, trinkets are used to symbolize affection or friendship, particularly between family members.
Players can upgrade trinkets in addition to weapons or armor, as well as potions. Upgrades can be made by paying the appropriate currency to an upgrade vendor. As with other upgrades to items trinkets are able to be traded out at any time without losing their status.
Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are available with gold, tokens or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrading a trinket is a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a new one. It is possible to upgrade the player for just 12 tokens. The new trinket will have the same base ilvl as the old one, and will have an additional 1% upgrade bonus.
Trinkets can be upgraded when they are no longer needed, allowing a player to increase their power and worth over time. They can be traded between players, making them an alternative to gold.
Players should upgrade their most important items first. This usually means the best-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondaries and then other gear items that will not be replaced in the near future (for example, a ring or cloak). Players should also consider their class's preferred stats when selecting the items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to a tank player, then they should upgrade their helm, chest and shoulders.
After they've become unusable trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The upgraded trinket will give you an additional 1% bonus. However, a re-upgrade will cause the trinket to be destroyed in the event that it is not saved using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or a higher-tier salvage tool. This makes upgrading trinkets more expensive than other upgrades, but is still cheaper than purchasing an entirely new trinket.
